We are just about to sit down for a festive Christmas Eve dinner, when suddenly an uninvited guest enters. Uncle Bob. Who is he? Why did he come? Who is waiting for him in the car outside? And what is the point of his scandalous message? One thing we can be sure of is that the world will never be the same again.
The last play by the legendary playwright Martin Crimp that had its world premiere at London’s Royal Court Theatre in December 2012, among other things suggests how far the current cult of the individual and positive thinking can lead us. The play stands out with the author’s typical formal originality. Three relatively independent but interrelated parts depict contemporary intellectual and moral chaos of the Western world in an entertaining form accompanied by the congenial music of a Dutch composer, Roald van Oosten
